"Oct 31st: ALL HALLOW'S EVE" By Maf R
Many cultures (Ancients Celts, Wiccans, Pagans and more) celebrate Samhain.
There are different names but every celebration encapsules the essence of this holiday: The Day of the Death, endings, fall…
Many cultures imply the death could blend with the living world because the Veil between the Living and the Death is at its thinnes.
That’s why many make offerings or altars to honor these souls or spirits.
It is not only a day to go trick or treating but to reflect on what has ended and its changing…
From an Astrological Point of View this holiday falls in the Season of Scorpio: the Magician, explorer of the Occult and alchemist by nature. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
The Ancients were wise because they knew their World and its cycles.
The Celts celebrated it to welcome the early new year. They made bonfires as offerings… The time for harvest had started and there was the insecurity and fear of not knowing if food would last all winter…
Nowadays we have everything to overcome this, showing how much we have “evolved”, but do we still have that innate knowledge and connection to the cycles of Earth? Or have we forgotten it? It’s just something to meditate on.
In the Astrological Calendar each sign represents the
different stages of the seasons and Scorpio represents the splendor of Autumn
where things get rotten and in consequence they die.
Alchemy, transformation, magic and change…
Happy Samhain to all!
