In ancient times, civilizations were guided by the cycles of nature, and astrology is entirely cyclical.
Mabon—or the Autumn Equinox, which falls on September 24th this year—marks the Sun's entry into the zodiac sign of Libra and is one of the year's four solar festivals.

Libra represents the "Omega"; it marks the beginning of the season when the fruits and leaves fall and the onset of withering—which is why it is known as the "harvest" season.
The Greeks associated Persephone with Libra; the myth tells how her descent into the underworld causes scarcity in the harvest, as she spends six months above ground and six months below. This perfectly illustrates the precision of the equinox.

So, how can you celebrate Mabon or the Autumn Equinox?
You can reflect on what you have achieved this year and envision what you desire for the next. It is also a good time to slow down, practice moderation, and weigh your achievements against your future goals. You may notice the atmosphere becoming less frentic than before. It is an excellent time for social gatherings, and if you enjoy bonfires, it is a perfect occasion to light one.

On the astrological front, we have four planets in retrograde—moving backward rather than following their natural course. These include Saturn and Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius. Saturn compels us to redirect our path and reorganize; it is a time for growth and greater independence. Neptune brings our ideals into this process of redirection, making it a valuable time to evaluate the illusions we once held. Uranus in Gemini makes us susceptible to environmental influences, making it an excellent time to form our own opinions rather than simply repeating what others say. Meanwhile, Pluto prompts us to revisit matters that needed changing long ago. This planetary alignment brings to light things we had previously overlooked and creates a favorable atmosphere for a fresh start and for making necessary changes in our lives.
